National Signing Day Feb. 2, 2011

The approach of February 2, 2011, the college football national signing day, makes scores of college football fans increasingly nervous. Of course, the percentage of people who are aware of this important day increases as you scan into the southeast United States. The southeast is the home of the greatest football conference in modern America.

The fuel for the SEC football greatness does not derive from its players, although players are certainly a key component. The fuel of the players is the fans. And, the SEC fans are the best, wildest, and most populous in the world of college football.

Here is a short video I made. My intent was to persuade as many great high school players as possible to come to South Carolina and play football in the SEC for the Gamecocks. The information in this video is from the NCAA 2010 Football Attendance Report (January 11, 2011).

"Exciting New Political Dynamic"

Here is Ralph Nader, a progressive and anti-government crusader, talking about the nexus between the true conservatives and civil libertarian progressives. He projects a conflict within the Republican Party as party leadership backs corporatism policies such as corporate welfare, but "true tea partiers" in the Party stand on principle and oppose expanding the big government police state and corporatism, Federal Reserve meddling, and advocate for hacking into the bloated military budget. Nader says the principled conservatives will find allies on the progressive side of the aisle to pass important legislation through use of this "new dynamic."

It will be really curious to see how Obama stands on these issues . . . if they come to fruition. I predict the President would disfavor reduction of federal government power and limiting the authority of the executive branch at every turn.

Federal Reserve Defies U.S. Senator's Lawful Request for Information

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) wrote the Federal Reserve requesting it disclose data about $3.3 Trillion of secret subsidies. Sanders, a U.S. Senator, was entitled to answers under a provision tucked into the two thousand page financial regulation law enacted late in 2010.

Chairman Bernanke, a man more powerful than the President, responded with six pages of lawyerly evasiveness giving Sanders nothing specific. As an attorney, I see this stuff all the time. Does Sanders have any way to enforce the law with the Obama Administration acting as Executive? That is not a rhetorical question. I really wonder. I doubt it, but I am curious.

Here is what Sanders said about the Federal Reserve's response:

"I called for clear responses to these reasonable concerns, but got none," the senator added. "I find it amazing, but not surprising, that Chairman Bernanke could write a six-page letter in response to questions I had regarding the Fed's emergency lending programs without directly answering a single one of my specific questions."

"The American people deserve direct answers to these important questions. If Chairman Bernanke won't answer these questions, I hope that the Government Accountability Office will," Sanders said. A Sanders' provision in the Wall Street reform law ordered the non-partisan investigative arm of Congress to conduct a top-to-bottom audit of the Fed."

Happy New Year!

This year I intend to spend some spare time prepping for economic collapse. Yes, I know it sounds crazy. However, it is like the issue of abortion. If you don't know whether the baby is a human, shouldn't you err on the side of caution?

Maybe I will post from time to time as I learn about prepper stuff. I am just starting out on this journey so I don't have a lot to give to the prepper community at this time.

God bless you in 2011.
