Did Pelosi Manipulate YouTube By Asserting a Frivolous Copyright Claim?

John Dennis, running a gorilla campaign against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D. CA), must scrimp and make effective use of his campaign funds. He is running against one of the most powerful politicians in America.

Nancy Pelosi has never won by less than 71% of the vote in her San Francisco based district. John Dennis is a businessman Republican running against her. He is very conservative. Dennis advocates a full audit of the federal reserve, alternative gold and silver contracts, and elimination of capital gains taxes on gold and silver. He has been endorsed by Barry Goldwater and Ron Paul.

The problem is he lacks funds to go against a gargantuan like Pelosi. He tried to take his campaign to the Internet by use of YouTube. One of his ads, depicting Nancy Pelosi as the wicked witch of the west, went viral there. However, YouTube has now pulled the ad based upon an alleged copyright violation asserted by EMI, the owner of the movie.

Dennis alleges the Pelosi Campaign used its influence to deprive citizens of the opportunity to watch the Pelosi parody. Here is Dennis' statement:

“Our attorneys have advised the campaign that the Wicked Witch of the West Video is within the bounds of the law as it constitutes “fair use” under the Supreme Court’s authoritative ruling in Campbell v. Acuff Rose Music, Inc. (1994).

The copyright infringement claim filed by EMI with YouTube against our video spoofing of Nancy Pelosi is sub-frivolous and politically motivated. This incident is yet another example of how Nancy Pelosi and her special interest cronies manipulate and strong arm the system for personal gain at the expense of America’s liberties and freedoms.

The 73 second light parody partially builds on music and characters from The Wizard of Oz, but was rescored within the bounds of the law. Because it appeals to a political audience and not a commercial audience, the video is no marketplace substitute for the genuine article.

EMI executives provide thousands upon thousands of donations to the Democratic Party, their candidates and Nancy Pelosi each year. Together, they are clearly collaborating to suppress free speech and limit information to the electorate to advance their special interest agenda.”

Donald Berwick Refuses to be Interviewed

Donald Berwick was appointed by President Obama to run the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). A reporter from Human Events attempted to interview him about his previously stated views on health care rationing.

Berwick was recess appointed to his position as the Administrator of CMS. In other words, he got the job while Congress was on recess. Thus, there was no advice and consent, no hearings, no vetting of this appointment.

Dr. Berwick will have tremendous discretion is overseeing the writing of CMS regulations, which carry the same power of law as the Statute that granted him the authority--ObamaCare. He will decide where and who gets paid for Medicare procedures, and who gets treatment.

Berwick has expressed several shockingly candid views suggesting the federal government will regulate the provision of health care treatment to the American population. Questions about his expressed opinions on these subjects were never addressed because the recess appointment allowed him to escape Congressional scrutiny.

Chief Testifies Racial Discrimination Rampant in Voting Rights Division

In January 2009, the last days before President Obama was inaugurated after the 2008 election, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a lawsuit against the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) and several individual members for voter intimidation at a Philadelphia polling place. The lawsuit sought a broad injunction based on alleged violation of Section 11(b) of the Voting Rights Act.

In stomach-churning CSPAN testimony today, Christopher Coates stated the reason the DOJ dismissed the NBPP case was because of a, “hostility of the people who do not believe in race neutral enforcement of voting rights laws.” In other words, the case was dismissed because the perpetrators of the attempted voter intimidation were black and the victims were white.  Coates described a culture of selective enforcement based on the race within the DOJ. Coates was the Chief of the DOJ's Civil Rights Division, Voting Rights Section at the time the NBPP case was dismissed in May 2009.

DOJ spokesmen have stated to the press, and under oath at hearings before the Commission , that the dismissal decision of the NBPP case was made by non-political, career officials. The DOJ statements allege the case lacked sufficient evidence to merit its continued prosecution. The DOJ  continues to claim it has never allowed racial preferences to enforce the voting rights laws.

Reacting to Coates' testimony, Tracy Schmaler, a DOJ spokeswoman, demeaned the Civil Rights Commission authority to investigate: “[T]his so-called investigation is thin on facts and evidence and thick on rhetoric.”

However, at the hearing today, Coates was unable to respond to specific questions because the DOJ has claimed an alleged “deliberative privilege.” The DOJ privilege claim kept Coates, a current DOJ employee working as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Charleston, from providing details about specific discussions and documents about the dismissal decision.  The DOJ, according to complaints of Commissioners, has also refused to provide documents or even a list of documents it is withholding due to the alleged privilege.

Commissioner Todd Graziano suggested the DOJ was asserting the deliberative privilege, “to cover up possible wrongdoing.”

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (Commission) is an investigative body made of eight Commissioners. Congress created the Commission by statute, 42 U.S.C. 1975a(a) for the purpose of investigating possible civil rights violations. It has the power to issue Subpoenas and take testimony, but no enforcement authority. Instead, it will refer matters to law enforcement authorities or Congress for issuing remedies.

New Black Panther Case Hearing at 10:00 A.M Today

The head of the voting rights department, Christopher Coates, will testify before the Civil Rights Commission. Coates testimony is in defiance of orders by the Justice Department prohibiting him from complying with the Subpoena.

Justice officials have testified before Congress and the Commission that the decision to dismiss the NBPP case was made by career employees such as Coates and that political appointees of the Obama Administration had nothing to do with the decision. Earlier this week, reports surfaced on Justice Watch that contrary to the sworn testimony there were numerous, allegedly privileged discussions, between political appointees about the NBPP case before its dismissal.

The Democrat Party benefits by allowing NBPP operatives to engage in intimidation of voters who would likely vote against Democrat candidates. Allowing organizations like the NBPP to aggressively intimidate and threaten voters--with weapons in their hands--before voters go into the polls rips out the heart of our Democracy republic. It hearkens back to the days of reconstruction when Pitchfork Ben's red flannel shirt boys intimidated African Americans from exercising their voting rights down in Edgefield, South Carolina. It is appalling that the Obama Justice Department would allow such tactics to go unpunished.

In the link of PJTV's Interview of former Justice voting rights attorney, J. Christian Adams, Adams states Justice ordered Coates not to testify because it might reveal privileged material. However, Adams speculates in the interview that the real purpose is to continue a cover-up of corrupt practices by high ranking Justice officials in relation to the decision to dismiss the Justice case against the New Black Panther Party and two of its members for intimidating voters at a polling place in Philadelphia.

In 2008, the Justice Department obtained a default judgment against the NBPP and its members. However, after the election, Eric Holder's Justice Department ordered the case against the NBPP dismissed before an injunction could be issued against the NBPP that would have prohibited the organization from continuing to engage in voter intimidation. The Justice Department accepted a very limited scope injunction (limited in both time and place) against one of the bad actors. It let the NBPP go scot-free.

What to Expect from Auburn's Gus Malzahn Offense: Analysis

The Auburn offensive coordinator runs a spread offense that emphasizes an extremely fast tempo.

The offensive pace of Auburn will be not unlike the pace the Gamecock defense faced against Southern Mississippi (USM) in the 2010 season opener. Both Auburn and USM like to play a quick no-huddle style of attack. Auburn's offensive goal is to snap the football within four or five seconds of the referee's whistle setting the play. This means the offensive coaches must signal in the play very quickly, or perhaps have multiple plays called to be run in series.

The Malzahn style offense is run oriented from the spread, similar in philosophy to Florida's attack.
Gus Malzahn: We're a run, play-action team. A lot of spread teams are pass first, run second. But we're a run, play-action team. As a matter of fact, I think we ran the ball one more time than we threw it last year, which a lot of people don't know. We like to be 50-50 and be able to do both well.
Smart Football, The Gus Malzahn/Auburn Tigers run game, (June 18, 2009). Some have called Malzahn's offense a "smash mouth spread."

The offense's bread and butter plays are inside and outside zone read runs, counter plays, and bubble screen passes. The zone read runs allow Cam Newton to read one of the defensive players, either the end or a linebacker depending on which play or the other is called, with the option of keeping or handing the ball off. The Auburn counter play features pulling guards and tackles, similar to the old Redskins counter-trey play of the 1980s.

The basic run plays set up others that seem to develop out of the same initial motion. Auburn will run reverse plays frequently. It is an old football saying that you should not run more than one or at most two reverses a game. But Auburn may run several more than just one. The reverse is baked into the Auburn offense. It will also mix in plenty of play action pass plays from a run look.

Another aspect of Auburn's Malzahn attack is how it tries to gain blocking angles. The Auburn offense uses a lot of shifting players and a large variety of formations. The different offensive looks coupled with its fast tempo are tactics to confuse a defense and get players out of optimal defensive position so they can be more easily blocked. The collateral benefit is it causes fatigue in a defense.

The Gamecocks home opener against USM was good preparation for Auburn's much more powerful but somewhat similar high-speed attack. The USM game result should encourage Gamecock fans, however, because the Gamecock defense forced multiple three plays and punt evolutions against USM's high tempo offense.

These fast failures by USM's offense meant that the USM defense did not have a lot of time to rest on the sidelines. Before it knew what hit it, it had to go back in against the Gamecock offense. The down side of a fast tempo style offense like Auburn's is that when it does not work, the defense does not get the rest it needs.

In addition, Steve Spurrier, the Gamecocks Head Ball Coach, like the Borg, has adapted. The Gamecock offense will frequently run an up-tempo, no-huddle attack. Spurrier uses fast offensive tempo selectively depending on the strategic importance of it. For example, when the Gamecocks have a lead, the Spurrier offense slows down and milks the clock. But when the game is still in jeopardy, the Gamecocks offense can run plays as fast as anyone . . . including Auburn. If you watched the Gamecocks on television this year you know that there are many instances when the TV production cannot even run a replay or promo without missing Gamecock offensive plays from the fast-tempo, no-huddle, Gamecock offense.

Against USM, the failure of the USM offense to gain a first down put their tired defense on the field in short order. The Gamecock offense took full advantage of the fatigued USM defense posting 41 points.

Because of the offensive tempo used by both Auburn and the Gamecocks, conditioning and depth are going to be big factors for this Saturday's game on The Plains. Will the Gamecock defense continue to play at a high level when it is unable to substitute fresh players? So far this season, the Gamecocks have proven that their off-season conditioning has prepared them very well for opponents up-tempo attacks. The Gamecocks players will be tested again this week.

It is said from time to time that Auburn lacks depth on defense. If that is true, and if their conditioning is not at least on par with the Gamecocks, Spurrier's team could achieve a huge upset win on the road.

Former Gamecock Great Kenny McKinley Dies at Age 23

Gamecocks Stunned by News

The South Carolina football squad was stunned and saddened Monday night when they learned of the death of former Gamecock standout wide receiver Kenny McKinley.

McKinley, 23, died on Monday in Denver, Colo. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round in the 2009 NFL Draft with the 141st overall selection. He appeared in eight games for the Broncos in 2009 before being placed on injury reserve with a knee injury. The Broncos had placed him on injured reserve on August 5, 2010 with another knee injury.

"I saw him here - he came to the Georgia game," said head coach Steve Spurrier. "He seemed in good spirits. Great smile like he always had. I don't understand it if it happened the way they say. It's hard to comprehend. Kenny was certainly one of my favorite all-time players. He was a wonderful guy. It's hard to figure out why this happened. It's a sad day."

McKinley finished his South Carolina career as the school's all-time leader in both career receptions (207) and career receiving yards (2,781). He also set the school record by catching a pass in 43 straight games from 2005-08. He scored 19 touchdowns during his Gamecock career.

Standby for Lattimore Bashing From Auburn Fans

After watching the Gamecocks play three football games this year opponents' defensive strategy is pretty obvious—stop Marcus Lattimore.

Lattimore, a freshman running back for the Gamecocks, is averaging 111 yards rushing per game and nearly five yards per carry. He has rushed the ball 70 times already this year, or approximately 23 carries a game. NCAA Rushing Statistics. Opponents are figuring, stop Lattimore and stop the Gamecock offense.

The next opponent, Auburn, will have extra incentive to squelch Lattimore. At his ceremony when he signed his Letter of Intent to play for the Gamecocks, Lattimore made his announcement by suggesting that his second favorite school was Auburn.

Lattimore is from Duncan, South Carolina. He was recognized as the best South Carolina high school football player when he won Mr. Football 2009. It should not be surprising that a South Carolina player chooses to play ball in state for the flagship University. How many of the top Alabama high school football players leave Alabama to play college ball out of state?

Rather than seeing that Lattimore was honoring Auburn, the out of state school, by recognizing them during his emotional signing ceremony, Auburn players and coaches are likely to regard Lattimore's choice of the Gamecocks as disrespectful. To the contrary, Lattimore has admitted his choice was very difficult and he seriously considered Auburn as his school.

Marcus' decision to play for South Carolina means that the video embedded below could be a source of motivation for Auburn fans, bloggers, coaches, and players. However, if Auburn fans and players do spin Marcus decision to play for the Gamecocks as an anti-Auburn comment, it will suggest Auburn does not think much of South Carolina.

The Gamecocks need to rally around Marcus and take it to the Auburn defensive front. It is a team game. Auburn needs to learn that the players who chose to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks made good decisions.

Lattimore Work Load

True freshman Marcus Lattimore rushed 37 times for 182 yards and two touchdowns against Georgia. Thirty-seven carries is a lot of work for a running back.

The graphic to the right puts Lattimore's performance into historical perspective.

Back in 1933 Earl Clary carried the ball 33 times and he is still in the Gamecock top ten for toting the ball.

No Carolina back has carried the ball more than 33 times since George Rogers back in 1980.

Lattimore's performance against Georgia last Saturday truly was historical.

Suspend Karl Rove!

Karl Rove used his platform as a repeat guest on Fox to bash Delaware Republican Senate nominee, Christine O’Donnell, following her primary victory over neocon Mike Castle.

O'Donnell unseated the establishment Republican candidate in last night's Delaware primary.

Castle famously voted in favor of the huge, senseless, jobs-killing Cap and Tax law while serving in the House of Representatives.

According to sources quoted by reporters for The Freedomist, Exclusive- Karl Rove Tried To Cut Deal For Castle With Tea Party- Teaparty News, (Sept. 14, 2010), Rove acted as an operations agent in the losing Castle campaign.

Following Castle's loss, Rove used his platform as a Fox News analyst to launch several unsubstantiated personal attacks against O'Donnell, suggesting she was dishonest, uneducated, and crazy. The video of his appearance on Hannity is linked below.

The upshot of Rove's outburst against O'Donnell, a violation of Reagan's 11th Commandment, should jeopardize his job as a color analyst with Fox. His previous appearances have always been irritating and his political analysis shallow. Now, his actions are plainly unethical. Rove should have mentioned in his appearance that he was a political operative for Castle's campaign when he bashed O'Donnell. Fox cannot allow political operatives to come on their opinion shows and bash opponents without full disclosure of their connections and their obvious biases.

Did Hannity know about Rove's work for the Castle campaign before the interview on his show? Hannity appeared taken aback by the viciousness of Rove's slanderous attack on O'Donnell suggesting he did not expect it.

Furman's Two Headed Monster Offense

Saturday's game against Furman University (FU) features a matchup between two ranked teams. FU was ranked in the Sports Network Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) poll at No. 24. The Gamecocks are now ranked 13th in the AP poll and 16th in the USA Today/Coaches poll.

The FU team has a two headed beast of an offense triggered by two top quarterbacks. Don't underestimate these guys. They put up 31 points on an SEC defense in 2009 (Auburn). Overall, the FU offense was quite impressive on the ground in its first game. It rushed for 377 net yards in their 45-15 win.

The flashy FU quarterback is sophomore Chris Forcier, 6-3 208 lbs, a transfer from UCLA. Forcier (number 5) has his own web site. He comes from a family of quarterbacking brothers. Chris' brother, Tate, is a backup QB for the powerful Michigan team.

Chris Forcier transferred to FU in 2009 from one of the top FBS programs in the PAC-10, UCLA. (Forcier left UCLA when it attempted to change his position from quarterback to receiver.)

In high school, Forcier was a four-star (Rivals) quarterback, out of St. Augustine in San Diego. He was ranked seventh nationally as a dual threat quarterback. FU coaches now say on the official school site that Forcier runs the forty yard dash in less than 4.4 seconds. (To give you perspective, 4.6 is considered pretty darn fast.)

Forcier made several huge runs in FU's first game, including an 85 yard blur down the left sideline. His performance did not come against a bunch of schmoes. Colgate was ranked 25th in the pre-season FCS poll. Against their tough northeastern defense, Forcier rushed for 135 yards on seven carries. Forcier only threw three passes against Colgate (completing two), but highlights of his passing are available at his personal web site (linked above) and indicate he has a strong and accurate arm.

The other FU quarterback is Senior Cody Worley (number 7), 6-1 217 lbs. Worley threw three touchdowns against Colgate, completing 9 of 14. Worley relieved Forcier (after he fumbled) in the second quarter with Furman clinging to a 10-7 lead. Worley, the composed senior, led the Furman offense on a sixty-three yard drive that culminated in a 19 yard touchdown pass.

If FU's players think the Gamecock players and fans are overlooking them, they can forget it. The Gamecock coaching staff is spending all week reminding the players that FCS teams have already whipped several ranked FBS teams in the 2010 season.

Then there is the revenge factor. FU has enjoyed their 1982 win for 28 years. It is time for the Gamecocks to stop payment on that check.

Chris Culliver Cleared to Play Against Georgia

On September 10, 2010, USC released a statement that senior cornerback Chris Culliver is cleared for the Georgia game. Culliver, USC's 6-1, 197-pound starting cornerback, did not play in the opener against USM.

In 2009, Culliver was second-team All SEC as a free safety. Culliver switched positions during the off-season to protect his shoulder from the violent collisions as a safety. Culliver's shoulder was dinged up during the 2009 season.

While adding Culliver to the USC secondary will help with depth issues there, his biggest impact may be on special teams. The Gamecock special teams need a boost. The graphic to the right shows Culliver's statistics as a kick off return man. Maybe 2010 is the year the special teams really break out.

The Georgia special teams are a source of pride for that team. The punter (Drew Butler) and field goal kicker (Blair Walsh) are on all the kicker watch lists. Brandon Boykin returned three kickoffs for TDs in 2009, including one touchdown against the Gamecocks last year. The Sporting News tabbed Georgia as the nation's No. 1 special teams and College Football News said the Bulldogs have "the best kicking game in college football." Many Gamecock fans know about Georgia special teams first hand because they were the difference in the Gamecocks close 2009 loss.

We hope Culliver, a good return man in his own right, changes that around in 2010. The Georgia kickoff return team gave up a 46-yard return on the opening kickoff against Louisiana Ragin Cajins. After that, however, the Georgia kick off team tightened up and allowed only 12 yards per return (70 yards on six kickoffs).

It is interesting that the Georgia kicker, Walsh, who is a great field goal kicker, only reached the end zone twice out of seven kick offs. Walsh forced 17 touchbacks on kickoffs in 2009, but Georgia still ranked 117th in the nation in kickoff coverage (25.71).

This data begs the question. Can Culliver and the Gamecock kickoff return team exploit Georgia in this area? Getting Cully back makes a big kickoff return for the Gamecocks a distinct possibility for the Gamecocks.

Meaning of NCAA LOI and Speculation

Yesterday, USC received an NCAA Letter of Inquiry (LOI). The NCAA publishes a 431 page rule book, 2009-10 NCAA Constitution, Operating Bylaws, and Administrative Bylaws (Aug. 1, 2009). The LOI sent to USC references several sections of the rulebook. Based on the references, the NCAA is investigating possible "major" violations of the rules by USC.

The LOI sites Bylaw 32.5. That provision governs the content of the LOI. It implies that the NCAA enforcement staff has uncovered, "reasonably reliable information indicating that an institution has been in violation of NCAA legislation . . . ." The LOI lacks specifics (possibly due to privacy concerns) but states the matters relate to ongoing investigations taking place at South Carolina and within the NCAA.

The University has a right to meet with the NCAA to find out what the NCAA is investigating. However, the University already knows the subject. The LOI confirms this stating: "Inasmuch as the institutional representatives are already very familiar with the case, due to participation in prior interviews, this meeting seems unnecessary at this time."

The LOI also implies the NCAA is looking into "major violations." It states, "[If] allegations of possible major violations of NCAA legislation are substantiated, the Committee on Infractions will consider the case either through the summary disposition or hearing process." The LOI sites to sections of the Bylaws that describe how an NCAA institution should respond to allegations of major violations using the NCAA procedures.

That said, the NCAA has not yet alleged major violations took place. But the NCAA's formal LOI means the NCAA has uncovered reasonably reliable information to suggest major violations involving the football program took place.

Although it is impossible to tell from USC's statements or the vague LOI, it seems likely to us that the NCAA is investigating possible major violations involving football players staying at the Whitney Hotel.

We know from the news reporting that the Whitney Hotel, owned by a Virginia corporation, is probably not a South Carolina booster.

However, we also know from reporting that the University has an ongoing business relationship with the Whitney. Local papers reported that coaches have stayed at the Whitney during periods of transition. We presume other University faculty may use the Hotel from time to time as well. University students also stay from time to time at the Hotel. We have heard rumors other students (not football players or athletes) stay there at rent comparable to the monthly rent rate charged to the players.

On the one hand the fact other students may stay at the hotel at the same rate as football players, suggests that the football players did not receive any benefit in the form of a lower rate.

On the other hand, what concerns me is that the NCAA may be looking into whether the relationship between the University and The Whitney as an institutional customer of The Whitney may have created an advantage in bargaining position for the players when they negotiated the rent. If the Whitney is giving a great rate to football players so it can continue to get the University to pay full freight for using its rooms, that benefit to football players may violate NCAA rules. The NCAA may be investigating whether The Whitney and USC have engaged in a form of crony capitalism. That possibility, along with the reports of players being delinquent in rent payments and inaction by The Whitney against them, may have created a suggestion of impropriety.

It is rumored that the USC Compliaince Depaartment was cozily involved in helping or assisting the football players with their lease arrangements with The Whitney. At his press conference, Steve Spurrier stated that the NCAA LOI did not involve any wrongdoing by the Gamecock football coaching staff. Spurrier's comment, together with what he know and can deduce, suggests that the USC Compliance Department stepped into some doo doo in how it negotiated with, or evaluated, or approved the players rental agreements with The Whitney Hotel.

Rosh Hashanah: Day of the Trumpets

Today is the day of the Old Testament festival celebrated by God's chosen people. The Feast is marked by the blowing of shofar (trumpets). (See Lev. 23:23-25).

Many Bible scholars believe that the Lord will return at the time Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets) is celebrated. Check out this New Testament scripture supporting that view:
Listen! I am telling you a mystery:
We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed,

in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.

For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible,

and we will be changed.
1 Cor. 15:51-52.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel's voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will always be with the Lord.
1 Thess 4:16-17.

Georgia's Quest for Revenge Against Spurrier

Every year at this time of the season, you get the sense that Georgia is chomping at the bit to get revenge on Steve Spurrier. A few days ago I posted about Spurrier's historical perspective of Georgia. In response, an anonymous Georgia fan immediately commented about the 1995 game. The Georgia fan was wrong about the number of points Florida hung on Georgia (it was actually only 52 not 57) but his comment is a good example of the consternation about Spurrier that remains after Florida set a new scoring record (52 points) back in 1995. To this day, Georgia fans are still raving about Spurrier allegedly running up the score in that game.

Like every year that we have Steve Spurrier as our coach, Georgia fans won’t be satisfied with a mere win on Saturday. They want to slaughter Gamecocks. Many Gamecock fans do not understand why Georgia fans hate Spurrier so irrationally. To understand it, you just need to understand the history between Spurrier and Georgia.

Back to 1995. That year, Florida routed Georgia 52-17. Allegedly, according to the Georgia myth, a Florida assistant coach told Spurrier before or during the game that nobody had ever scored more than 50 points against Georgia in Athens. In any case, with more than two minutes remaining, and Georgia's defense blitzing Florida's second team offense, a backup Gator quarterback threw a screen pass against the Bulldogs. Georgia's defense failed to stop the play, and Florida scored another touchdown to make the final score 52-17.

Why is a 1995 game against the Gators still fueling hatred for much of an apparently deranged Georgia fanbase? Why is it now directed at the Gamecocks? It seems logical that since Spurrier coached at Florida for another six years after the 1995 blowout (through the 2001 season), Georgia had plenty of chances to get its revenge against both Spurrier and Florida, the team that actually pasted them in 1995.

Think about the rematch game in 1996. The Georgia pain was fresh. You know the Georgia players who experienced the drubbing were frothing about Spurrier's meanness. Clearly, the 1996 Georgia players were screaming mad. Imagine the pre-game speeches made by Georgia's Coaches. With such an emotional payload fueling their play, the 1996 Georgia team should have killed Florida.

They didn't. The final score of the 1996 game was 47-7, an even bigger forty-point blowout.

Georgia did beat Spurrier in 1997, 37-17. But then Georgia lost to Florida in each of the remaining four years that Spurrier coached at Florida. The 1997 win was insufficient to fully satisfy its quest for revenge. The ensuing four years were frustrating for the Georgia fans.

Spurrier's overall record against Georgia was pretty decent. While he coached at Florida, Spurrier was 11-1 against Georgia. Along the way, he beat Georgia by scores like these: 38-7; 45-13; 52-14; 52-17; 47-7; and 38-7. Interestingly, Florida's 1994 pummeling of Georgia (52-14) was worse than the 1995 tromping (52-17) that they remain so mad about now.

Georgia could not get even with Spurrier when he coached Florida. They look at our program as their opportunity.

The Gamecocks and Georgia have been playing football against each other since 1894, 61 games. The Gamecocks' overall record is 14-46-2. Before the Gamecock's 2007 16-12 upset win two years ago, Georgia had won the previous five games between the schools. Three of those games were pretty close, but still the average Georgia victory margin over the five year period was 11 points. Georgia's five-year streak was nothing new either.

During the series, Georgia has achieved two streaks when Georgia won ten straight games. There was one horrible period from 1960 to 1977, when the teams played every year, but the Gamecocks never won. On the other hand, in over a century of football games, the Gamecocks' longest winning streak is two games.

During that 100 year period, Georgia has achieved 15 blowout wins against the Gamecocks. However, the Gamecocks have never blown out Georgia. The largest victory margin by a Gamecock team over the Dawgs is only 17 points, a feat that happened twice, in 1903 and 1978.

Only two three Gamecock teams have ever scored more than 30 points against Georgia. One Two of those occurred during losses in Athens; 1970,  52-34, and 2009, 37-41 . The other was in 1959 when the Gamecocks won by 16 points, 30-14, in Columbia. The 30 points scored in 1959, are the most points the Gamecocks have ever scored on a Georgia defense playing in Columbia. That is not much considering we have played them 62 times over a span of more than a century.

The situation is this, it is time to change our Georgia history. Spurrier changed Florida's Georgia history. It is time for him to start to turn it around here at South Carolina. That would be the best revenge of all.
