Gamecock Baseball

Information About New Stadium

We still haven't finished the second college football season (recruiting). However, baseball is on my mind.

This season the Gamecock baseball team will, if plans come to fruition, play in a brand new stadium. The stadium is being contructed south of Blossom Stree and adjacent to Congaree River. Here is a satellite image of the location of the baseball stadium site.

The field dimensions are the same as Sarge Frye field: 325 feet down the lines and 390 feet to center. The outfield walls vary from 10 feet in height down the lines, to 8 feet high in the power alleys toward center-field. An emerald green “batter’s eye” is in center field. (Its an element that will help batters see pitches.) The green monster in center-field will measure 80 feet wide and stretch 40 feet above the field.
