Congressman Bob Ingles Votes Yes to Bailout

Supports Paulson's Folly

I wrote him an e-mail this morning. He called it a "rescue plan", but at least he responded to my message. I still haven't heard a response from Lindsay Graham. Bob Ingles wrote:
Dear Edwin,

Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 3997, The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (the "Financial Stabilization Package" or "Wall Street Bailout Bill"). I voted in support of the bill, which was rejected by the House on September 29, 2008, by a vote of 205 to 228.

The decision hinged on this crucial question: Is the risk of doing nothing greater than the risk of buying $700 billion of illiquid securities?

My decision memo on this vote is attached. I'd be interested in knowing how you would have voted. You can post a comment at inglis.house.gov/economy.

Best regards,
Bob Inglis
The response was disappointing. I went to the Rescue Package Decision Memo
link in the letter and posted a message. Check out what our fellow 4th District Citizens are writing Bob about this issue! Hopefully, he will not make the same mistake twice.
